Coalseam Way - Sewer

Jurien Bay, Western Australia · 2025 · Awarded

We were engaged by Direct Contracting to install 350 meters of main sewer along Coalseam Way. The scope included deep excavation, compaction, de-watering, pipe installation and final testing within a tight project time frame.

Project planning

The project plan included site assessment and mobilization, followed by deep excavation, dewatering, pipe installation over nine days, and final testing and restoration within a 11-day schedule.

Excavation work

Excavation work involved safely digging to the required depth while implementing shoring and de-watering to ensure trench stability and a dry working environment.

Quality Assurance

Ensuring all materials and installations met design specifications and passed rigorous testing under water corp supervision.

De-watering Solutions

De-watering was achieved through temporary sump pumps and drainage systems to control water inflow and ensure safe trench conditions.

Challenges

Environmental Concerns

Implement environmental protection plans including sediment control, proper disposal of contaminated water, and erosion prevention measures.

Heritage

Assessments and collaborate closely with heritage consultants and local authorities to ensure all works comply with preservation guidelines to the protected sites.

Adverse Weather Conditions

Implement weather contingency plans, use protective coverings and schedule critical activities during favorable conditions.

High Tide

Schedule work during low tide windows, install temporary barriers or cofferdams, and monitor tidal forecasts closely to minimize disruptions.
